Here are the parameters for Original Characters:
Please think out your characters thoroughly. Give them weaknesses as well as strengths. Be aware that they are playing a supporting role and are not the main focus of a RP site for the TMNT.
Since this site is based on the grittier realistic side of the turtles and does not incorporate the sections of the movie that don't fit that standard (The monsters from 2007, the time travel in the third movie, etc), the OC characters will have to reflect that.
That means that OC's will work best if based in a world like we live in, rather than superheros/villains etc. There are a number of everyday characters who could come in contact with the turtles: A video store clerk, a grocer, a bartender, a hooker, a homeless person, a Private Investigator, etc.
Something like that might be preferable, rather than having a host of exotic creatures and characters. While it's feasible the mutagen came in contact with more than just the Turtles and Splinter, not every character can be a mutant squirrel, rabbit, slug, etc. It detracts from the Turtles plight in the world if they're not so very alone in what they are, and it takes something from the specialness of them too.
So we won't accept many mutants, only those really well thought out, and absolutely no other turtles. No female turtles, no children turtles. Absolutely none. We just can't dude.
This school of thought also extends to the more ostentatious human villains. While we hardly want the Foot to be the only enemy the turtles contend with, they are the most significant. Not every character can be an evil genius more deadly than any the turtles have ever faced. Make sure your character has concrete goals in mind, (more than just- take over the world, Bwah ha haa. Keep in mind most villains won't see themselves as such.) significant weaknesses, allies, etc.
The most important thing to remember when creating an OC is that they won't all be in every game. The focus is still the turtles and the OC's feature more as Guest Stars. This may mean you'll want more than one, for variety, or that if your character doesn't make sense in the context of the current plot (or is already participating in a number of games) you might need to sit that one out, and perhaps focus on one of the forum games (or other chat games, depending upon others availability) for the time being.
This is absolutely not intended to be mean, and may in fact never come up at all, but I wanted to set a precedent. I've seen too many TMNT sites so full of overactive OC's that the plots focus entirely on them and any mention of the turtles in completely peripheral. Completely OC games can be fun in their own right, and there are certainly places for them, however a TMNT RP community, should be, in my opinion, focused on the TMNT.
If you have any other questions or concerns about OC's or anything else, feel free to ask here, in the questions section, or through pm to myself or one of the mods.
